Inspired by the sankofa, a traditional Ghanaian adinkra symbol, Sinclair Yao Daley creates a colorful African mask. He carves the image from seasoned sese wood and adds earrings of multicolor cotton thread and recycled glass beads. Sankofa means 'go back to your roots,' a message conveyed through the form of a bird with its head tilted backward.
